Ard Cherrymount Stud is a family business owned in partnership, let me first introduce you to the family.

Margo and Bruce Dean set up Ardmulchan Stud over 40 years ago. In '96 it was decided to move from Navan to Kells, a distance of about 20Km, and Cherrymount became the new home. Bruce is the manager of the woodland and farm while Margo produces and breeds Connemara Ponies within the Stud, along with her involvement with all the competition horses.

Heather founded the Sport Horse section of the Stud in 1980 as it was mostly Connemaras before that. At present Heather runs the Stud . Pictured below is Heather with her son Conan (in 2000). Heather has ridden and competed in all three disciplines; showjumping, eventing and dressage, usually preparing the horses she rides from scratch. Heather has both competed at grade 'A' level showjumping and International level eventing. She have a keen involvement in horse-breeding, relating bloodlines to performance. They also help and coach students who come from home and abroad.

The Bell tower is one of the main features of the previous Cherrymount. The grey Connemara mare is Ard Khana at the wonderful age of 24, dam of 'Ard Conneely the Clifden and RDS Supreme Champion. She is a much loved family member who was also bred here at the stud.

2004 - Ard Khana at 30 years old is still with us and looks content under her outdoor rug grazing happily around our little bog bellow the front of our new house.

Here is an aerial picture of our new place in 2004

The back of the house faces the arena. We have 18 new stables where all the horses can also look out. We have 50 acres of rolling hills, within half a mile from the little village of Clonmellon on the N52.

Ard Cherrymount Stud started in its new location at the end of 2002 building a new house and yard on a 'green field' site which is actually situated in the County of Westmeath. By January 2004 the building of the stud was basically finished. The stud business continued working throughout the whole process, which was amazing.
